baby car seat hire - sydney

    Hi all,

We are heading back to Sydney for Christmas and don't fancy lugging our Britax car seat back with us. Does anyone know if there are any places in Sydney that offer baby car seat hire?

    Thanks,

    Grace

I haven't done it myself, but I have heard of others hiring them in Australia.

Here's a listing from bubhub of companies that hire baby equipment for NSW maybe you could contact a few to check if they hire carseats:

I've not tried this myself but came across this while searching for a smilar service in Perth.

If you are hiring a car most companies provide a baby seat for hire too.

    Hope this helps

I've used HireforBaby in Melbourne loads of times for car seats, booster seats etc for visitors and for myself. Prices were always reasonable and you can either pick up the items yourself or they come and install for you.

I haven't used the one in Sydney but there are numerous NSW branches if interested.

We got one when we hired a car, the car hire place gave it to us. I also saw a lot of signs for baby car seat hire around the hospital where my dad was staying. Maybe contact the nearest hospital where you are staying.

I am not sure how long you're going but my (US) experience is that if you're going more than 2-3 weeks, you're basically paying for the car seat. And when renting you often don't get great seats (we had a very cheap Evenflo seat once with a 4 day rental). So even though it's a pain, I have travel bags, we check the seats and I bring them. I don't want to waste US$150-200 on rent (car rental companies charge about $8-10 a day). You may want to keep this in mind.

It may be cheaper to buy a good basic car seat on arrival (and/or ask family to buy it for you).

When we went home over summer, we hired a car seat along with the car hire. The only car company that didn't hire out the car seats were Europcar.
After birth, we rented a carseat from one of the companies listed on bubhub in the Willoughby area. But you have to rent it for a month.
