    cord blood banking

    Has anyone here used LifeBankUSA?

I used Cord Blood Registry (CBR) for my first child. I'm very happy with their service. But this time I want to use another company. So is considering LifeBankUSA. Or what other companies have you used? And how was your experience.

    Thanks for sharing.

I'm also considering banking my baby's cord blood but I have never heard of the two companies you mentioned. They are american companies?

I just spoke to all the 3 companies in Hong Kong but haven't made any decision yet. I'm still discussing with hubby. :(

This is my first child.....I'm very overwhelmed by the experience so far. Decision on stroller, bottles, milk brand, cord blood banking...a very stressful experience indeed.

I have also spoken to all 3 companies in HK, and about to sign with CordLife. Healthbaby has the best marketing strategy but they use liquid nitrogen tank and I don't like it. Their sales persons are like insurance persons, and they don't have any lab background and they just repeat the messages they got from their company like parrots. Their critism about the tank used by the other two sounds convincing initially, but when I checked out more with the other two, i found that the points are not true.

The other two using same tank (vapour nitrogen) which has less risk for cross contemination, I trust it better. Between the two, I chose CordLife because it uses a new machine, SEPAX, to process the blood. Cryolife's machine can also automatic process the blood but the statistics they quote is less than SEPAX. Plus, the sales I talked to in CordLife is very informative and responsive to my questions etc, she herself was a lab person before. I also visited their office in Wan Chai Shui On centre which is very convenient.

Also, Cordlife is cheaper by $1,000 and they have a promotion 31 March 2009 to give you an italian made baby bouncer. The person who refers you will get $668 in cash. You can quote me if you go with Cordlife, we can spend that over a nice afternoon tea!

Little Bird - do you mind me asking how much the total Cordlife package is? I was about to start doing my research, but looks like you've already done yours!

Also, if this company stores the blood here in HK, but you needed it later in another country, I assume transporting it is not an issue?

    Thanks

Can anyone recommend a good cord banking company for me. I'm also not planning to stay here. We'd be going back to the Philippines a month after I give birth. I'm due on April 9. Tnx And also how much will the total package cost?

    Hi sarah+

    Cordlife (18yrs) $28,000 +$1,000 (if you use Sepax) = $29,000.

Cryolife $33,000 ($3000 discount if join 3 months before due date)

Transfer to other country shouldn't be an issue. Cordlife has regional branches, one of the selling point is that you can store in their other branches. A friend of mine will move back to Australia in a long run, and she joined Cordlife because of their network. If transferring to other branches you will only need to pay the transportation costs. Not sure how costs work if you send your cordblood to other countries.

    Good luck with your delivery!
