Yes, they would resist, but with the mouth-suction option it is over MUCH quicker, because you get the mucus out VERY quickly. With ours, no more than 2 quick sucks.
My friend's daughter (at 3yo -when she still couldn't blow her own nose) would actually bring the nasal aspirator (mouth-suction one) to her mom and ask her to do it. I don't know what my friend did that her daughter not only not resist, but actually initiates it.

Wow, really? So is it easy to use? Any tips on how to get it into the nostrils when bubs is all flailing-arms and tossing-head?

I had to hold ours down --actually just the girl; our boy, while he didn't enjoy it, would let me do it without me having to hold him or anything. He knew that it would be over very quickly.
I think a large part of Z's resistance was in being held down, but then she was too young to understand that I just had to get the mucus out and she couldn't be counted on to stand/sit still while I do the deed. Luckily, both learned to blow their noses pretty early on... :)
