    Helper's leaving

My helper who's been with us for the past 1 year just told us yesterday that she's getting married and has to go home. (or is it something else I can't tell) She gave us 1 month notice but would like to go soon.

I'd probably let her go 'coz she sounds urgent but that'd leave me in a very difficult situation as both of us work and we have a 10-month-old at home who definitely needs someone to take care of.

We've checked with my agency and they can helper replaced a new helper from abroad but then that'd take at least 3 months.

Just wondering if any of the mothers have come across a similar situation. Is there anything I need to be careful about? Do you know of any helper who can help out and is available relatively immediately (my only requirement in fact is that she's good w kid

i can't answer many of your questions, but i did want to say that several of my friends have gotten their helpers through geoexpat.com - and have been very pleased.

Good luck in your search for a replacement.

You should check out my recent post recommending a helper we have used. Imelda is great with kids.

I think you might be able to get a helper to start right away (the helpers whose contract just ended and they have 2 weeks to stay in HK to find new employment). You can usually interview them on Sundays right in your agency.
