    Afternoon Classes + Naptime?

My LO is starting K1 this year but was accepted into afternoon classes which is right around his naptime. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Should I cut his nap out altogether or make him take a morning nap (which will probably be quite hard to do)?

    Naptime

    Hi,

What time does your kid go to school? What time does he usually get up in the mornings?

We dropped the afternoon sleep and DD went to bed earlier. With DD 2 we will probably do the same as she starts playgroup this Sept.

He usually gets up at 7am and naps around 1-3pm after his lunch... but the school starts at 1pm. I think the only option I have is to drop the nap but afraid he will start to get really cranky in the afternoons. How did you drop the afternoon nap? My LO is 2.5 years old...

Any tips/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

My daughter will also be attending K1 afternoon class... I am probably going to drop her afternoon nap and move her bedtime up earlier. She's 3 now, and these days if she has a good afternoon nap, its hard to put her to sleep at 8.

Haven't really thought about how to actually do it, although probably when I do drop her nap, I will make sure that the first few days are not too packed with activities that will make her really tired, until she is use to not having a nap.

the first week will be hellish. but after that, they should be ok.

not only that, but i've found with my two that if they keep going (at class, out in the playground etc) they can stay awake until an earlier 7:15-7:30 bedtime.

my son dropped his afternoon nap around 3-3.5 years. my daughter is almost 2.5 now and seems to really need the nap, but as i said, if she keeps going she's fine.
