furniture for domestic helper
We haven't currently employed a DH but will do so within the next 2 months. In the meantime, we would like to get the helper's room ready as we will likely need to custom made the furniture which may take a couple of weeks. Due to space constraints, we could either get a bunk-bed with a small wardrobe below or a bed with drawers below so that the DH can keep her clothes folded and personal belongings. How important is a wardrobe? This is the first time we are employing a DH in HK so I would like to know what is the norm. Thanks!

Most folks tend to get the elevated bed w/storage as there isn't space for a wardrobe.

I don't have a wardrobe fir my helper but I have plenty of drawers from MUJI for her. Check out some hangers with hooks which can put at the back of the door. Go to PRICERITE, there are many gadgets there.

agree with Rani- bunk on the top for all her clothes and stuff and she'll sleep on the bottom bunk bed, we also got her several large plastic containers with wheels for her to put all her clothes in to store ontop of the bunk bed and below the bed

I asked my helper to configure her tiny room when we moved and she liked an elevated bed (from jade rattan type place but longer legs on request) so she had freedom to store her bags/cases/boxes underneath without conforming to cupboard size. We could squeeze in a skinny wardrobe but would have put a steel bar along the top of the narrow room to give her a rail if the wardrobe didn't fit.

I highly recommend Takad furniture in Wanchai. We had a custom made bed for our helper that also has storage underneath it. They come to your place to measure and they custom made it for you. We were never disappointed...and they're not at all expensive too!
Best of luck looking for the furniture!

Thanks for all your replies. We decided to get a customized bunk bed with a wardrobe section from Takad.
