Free or cheap activities to do with the kids this summer?

Hi there, I was wondering if any of you have ideas of fun things to do with the kids this summer that don't cost a lot of money. Today we're going to the Zoological and Botanical Gardens, and next week we'll probably go out to Stanley Beach for a few hours. Aside from that, what is there to do that doesn't cost a lot of money? Let's start a list. Just add to it fun things that you like to do with your kids.

    HK Zoological & Botanical Gardens
    the beach
going on a hike (Pokfulam Reservoir up to the Peak or Tai Tam)
    the Library
Riding the Star Ferry and walking along the TST waterfront

my kids LOVE the public pools, too

the music centre next to my playgroup is offerin 10 drawing classes + 3 music classes (they offer conga drum classes) for $700 (my son is going and he LOVES it!)

a walk around the park at disney

getting on a bus just to explore

getting on the tram just to explore

getting on the mtr and picking a station, getting off and exploring

(why does everything have to be hk centred?)

    arts & crafts:
    finger painting
sticking old magazine pictures onto a paper
    making sticker pictures
buying self inking stamps and letting the kids make their own placemats (write their name in the middle, they can paint it and then stamp it or sticker it, then take it to the shop to get it laminated)
cook with the kids (mine LOVE to decorate cakes and make cookies)
use old tissue boxes to make aeroplanes
use big boxes to make a car for the children to "drive"... use a paper plate for the steering wheel
paint with toothbrushes, nailpolish brushes, sponges etc
    sting necklaces
buy some white t-shirts and paint them

there's lots to do depending on your energy level
get a "sand table" that can be used for sand, rice or water play
get a "bouncy castle" from B2B ($625). it is inflatable so you can have it for a week, then take it down and use another time.

let me think of some more...

My problem is that it is horribly hot out and my son and I both get really cranky, really fast in the heat. Thanks carang for the suggestions.

Great ideas! I would LOVE to get one of those bouncy houses if we had the room for it. One of our friends has one and it's so much fun for the kids. Thanks for the craft project ideas, too. My 6 year old loves anything and everything to do with arts & crafts
