Yet another question on nursery/kindergarten
Hi All
Im feeling somewhat overwhelmed at the moment with the amount of choice. My DD is 21 months and Im thinking of starting her at a nursery/kindergarten next term. But where do I start? We are in Parkview so dont really want to travel to far but thats all I know.
What are you doing with your 2 year olds? Playgroups or school??
Where do you take them and do they enjoy it?

I'd be interested to know this also as my son will turn 2 in Feb and we will have #2 by then. Currently he goes to Baby Buddies once a week but thinking of enrolling him for a second class next year. I work part time so was going to ask my helper to take him to one class and I'd take him to the other. Should I be thinking of something more formal? He struggles with mat time as it is (he is on the go the WHOLE time) - something more structured may not suit his personality.

We did a playgroup 2 mornings a week to start with, and in the afternoons we'd go to the playground or catch up with friends. When he was 3 we increased it to 3x week and at 3.5 he started kindergarten 5x week.
Ask around in Parkview. There used to be a playgroup teacher that organized groups at home. We also did a mummy group, which we took turns to host. We met 1x week, and each week was centred around a theme. The host, would organize an arts/crafts/ find a couple of songs to fit the theme, and read a story. And then we'd all sit down and have a Huge snack.

Im currently doing 3 playgroups. 1 is concentrating on language, one on sports and one on socialising and play. Its so hard to know what to do for the best - you dont want them missing out on anything!

Sazzy - how old is your child?
In general, at what age do babies start going to playgroups?

my son losses all his friends in playgroup when the school starts this September. He is the only one that i did not send to nursery but continue in playgroup. So far he managed to make one new friend his age at the playgroup, even this her mom is planning to send her to full time nursery. All others are below 2. My is 2.8 months. Interview for kinddy this week and next week for class 2010.
my friends sent their bubs to playgroup as young as 3 months old :0 i did not until he is 1.5 year old.

Which playgroups start at 3 months old?? Interesting ... I wonder what my baby can do at that age :)
If you know which are the good ones, will appreciate some recommendation, I'll check out the websites. Thanks.
