You should call the kindy. ESF kindy across the board have started their play visit.
But then there are several "rounds" of letters that would be sent out, all the way till June.
With ESF, whether kindy or primary... it's better to have a back-up. Our back-up has already offered us a space and we paid the deposit. I know it's stressful.. and I don't think it's fair for us parents to go through the same thing in 2-3 years time all over again. But what can we do... it's the HK edu system.

We went for our play visit yesterday, thankfully it was not like the assessment at other kindy's in terms of the myriad of things the kids are tested on, but like another mommy said, they proably looked at whether there are special needs, whether kids are able to speak/understand English and whether the kid can interact, stay focused etc. I did see some assessment forms that teachers have to complete for each child.
I think there is also an assessment on whether the child can be independant from their parents, although I note that many parents stayed with their child in the play room during the assessment.

I called school today, the recp. said not EVERYBODY will receive the invitation letter, IF you haven't received the letter, that's means you are on waiting list, she said there are a lot of WAITING LIST, and she will send out ANOTHER letter to inform those who are on WAITING LIST.

I received a letter today offering my son a place in Hillside (where the Sheung Wan school is moving to). He had his interview monday.
From what I understand though, interviews are still ongoing as I know someone who is supposedly having an interview on the 27th?Last edited by kiwiinoz; 01-21-2010 at 10:57 PM. Reason: spelling

Kiwiinoz,
Does your son has am or pm session?
Did you have the informal visit in the morning or afternoon?

My son has been offered an AM Session.
His informal visit was in the morning.
Is there a pattern to that?
I didn't mind what I got, although I have to say the AM session will make things a lot easier for me juggling my other child as well.
