    Breastfeeding and dry mouth

    Hi,

I am currently breastfeeding and recently have been suffering from very severe dry mouth and headaches. Has anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like you're a bit dehydrated to me. Dehydration can cause both of those things - and breastfeeding does require you to drink more water than usual. You could try to drink more water and see if that helps at all...

Yes..i think you are dehydrated. Breastfeeding moms need to drink lots of fluids.....dehydration causes headaches...so try drinking lots and lots!

headaches might be from the oxytocin released while breastfeeding.

I found it helped to keep a couple of bottles of water by the sofa or wherever you sit down to feed.
