Trip to Sanya Ritz Carlton
Hi
I am taking my baby to Sanya in Easter, he will be 10 mths old then.
Wonder any tips for:
- flying
- baby food / water (do i need to bring my own water?)
- swim suit for baby
- other must bring items?
I am thinking to bring him to Toronto in June, 12 mths old, any advices too?
I have never taken my child flying hence a bit nervous...
Thanks:yeah2

we've never been to sanya, but i've heard the ritz is amazing. i can give you tips on traveling @ asia with a 10 month year old as we've traveled a bunch with ours who is now 2 yrs old:
- bring all of your diapers and extra for accidents
- bring an extra top for yourself
- bring an extra set of clothing for your child on the airplane
- bring all the soothers if he/she uses them
- bring all of your milk
- bring a travel sterilizer/sterilizing tablets for the hotel for your bottles if he/she still uses them
- we usually brought 1 big bottle of baby water in our suitcase so we would could have it immediately and then could source bottles of evian when we got to a country where we would not drink the tap water. if you've got room, bring 2 bottles.
- we always brought our baby's own cot sheet/blanket(s) as sometimes the hotel's is very scratchy
- we brought a couple of his cot toys too to hang
- bring all the jar food you will need for all 3 meals and snacks. we found at that age the larger organic jars were best - best selection was found at ThreeSixty. we also liked the bags of organic oatmeal since they packed nice and flat
- bring a portable dvd player if you child can watch a little tv and give you a small rest for longer flights
essentially, we would pack one extra suitcase for all of our child's extras: diapers, swimsuit, swim diapers, blankets etc...
i am a believer of when traveling to countries where u are you not sure of the water/food and resources to always pack extra. If you've got the room, just take it with you!
definitely call the ritz before going to see what they provide as well as some hotels provide more for the babies then others.
there;s nothing to be scared about when traveling. 9/10 months is a good age to start as you've got to do it sooner or later. Each trip you take, makes you more prepared for the next and helps you streamline your supplies or at least that's what I've found since traveling with my son starting at 4 months.
hope this helps!

southside852, you are awesome!! tks!!
I heard the ritz is good, and will definitely call them to check. My friend stayed at ClubMed in asia, they didn't bring congee, just order the kitchen to cook! My bb will be 10 months then, and as he is still experiementing veggies with rice cereals, I am not sure if to introduce congee now .... but may be good idea to start bottle baby food which is excellent for travelling. Will check it out in 360.
did you travel long haul with your baby? did you take the carseat to use on plane as well as in the rented car? This is what I get from the forums, and I am planning another trip in June to Toronto, brave!

Glad it was helpful! I've traveled with my son alone without hubby since 4 months old from London to NYC (8 hours). We flew to Singapore when he was 9 months, to Hawaii at 11 months, Bangkok at 14 months and Saigon at 17 months. I flew back from NYC to HK alone with him at 19 months (17 hours). Yes, we've done some traveling and I think it does get easier as in less toys etc...and you learn more about how your baby travels after each flight. The hardest part is when they start to move and walk. Our trip from HK/Hawaii and HK/NYC were hard b/c our son had to walk everywhere and was going up and down the aisles.
We brought the carseat on board with us from HK to Hawaii at 11 months and decided to check in for the 2nd leg of our trip which was from Narita to Honolulu. Our son just never liked it and has always preferred sleeping on us. it was just bulky in the end. I think if your baby sleeps in it, then it's probably worth it. If not, it's just a big pain to drag around with you.
Yes, introduce congee now if you are planning to feed it to your baby at the hotel. Every hotel in Asia (Four Seasons, Ritz, Park Hyatt etc...) we've been to has served congee at breakfast. We always took a ton of food back to our hotel room from b-fast like bananas, apples, toast etc...so he could snack on later on. Our son started eating congee at around 7 months old and still eats when he's not well.
good luck!
We brought our own utensils for our son and microwaveable bowl with us so the kitchen could heat up what we needed.

The Ritz is a huge resort, great kids Club, you can ask for a bottle warmer over there. It's just not very pram friendly... lots of small steps everywhere.
Enjoy your holidays !
