I've read that you'll need to take 4 weeks leave if you and your employer can't agree on a date to begin your maternity leave.

I also wanted to add that any extra sick days that I use for maternity over and beyond the set number I get each year comes out of my salary.

I think you mean to start the maternity leave 4 weeks before the EDD. By laws, you are entitled to 10 weeks of maternity leave if by the time of you EDD, you have been working in that company for at least 40 weeks.
About the sick leave issue, I am not sure, cause I usually don't take that much sick leaves. And actually, I was using my personal leaves for maternity related appointment (I didn't feel it was appropriate to sick leaves, cause I didn't think I was "sick" after all).... But I think I will start taking sick leaves for my remaining appointment, if it is entitled by laws. Better save my personal leaves for extending my maternity leave! :-)

Right Gataloca. Sorry if I was unclear. If you and your employer can't agree on the date you leave before your EDD, you'll leave 4 weeks beforehand.
