Baby is allergic/reacting to most solid food?

    Dear experienced moms,

There's one thing I'd like to get some inputs from you.... I started to give my baby solid food once he turned 6 months, but he seems to have some reaction to everything! I started with 2 brands of organic rice cereal with no addictives, but he had gas and rashes on the body after eating both of them. So I stopped and tried homemade rice congee instead, and he's ok with it. Since then, I have tried to add sweet potato and potato (like 1tsp a day only), but he always had ~5 rashes on the body the first day, and the rashes went away in the next 2 days. I then gave him another tsp of sweet potato or potato, and the same thing happend (~5 rashes in the first day and went away in the next 2 days). Did anyone have similar experience? Is it ok for me to increase the amount of sweet potato or potato given that he had some reaction already after having just 1tsp?

Any thought is highly appreciated. Thanks!

i would take your baby to the doctor for allergy tests or wait a while before giving more to your baby.

Thanks, Carang. I already did, and my baby's Paed thinks allergy tests aren't necessary at this moment. He seems to think that mild reaction that goes away in a couple of days is acceptable. However, I still wanna know if anyone has similar experience just to make sure....

No I haven't but it sounds like an interesting idea. Will try carrots next. Thanks!

My pediatrician doesn't recommend allergy tests until after a baby has turned 9 months because she says they're not that accurate for under 9 months.

the OP doesn't actually say how old her baby is, just that she started trying to feed solids when the baby turned 6 months (no indication how long ago that was)....

if the paediatrician says no test, then hold off on it....

My baby isn't 7M yet so no allergy test.... So when you gave your babies solid food, you never saw any rash/red spot on the baby's body at all?
