    Good places to travel with baby?

    Any recommendations for someplace to go in the fall or winter that is:

    * Within Asia;
    * Not super expensive (we are not on the usual lawyer/banker budget);
    * Baby-friendly (ie., not sleeping in a yurt)
    * Interesting -- cultural, historical, or maybe some light nature stuff

    Doesn't have to be a beach resort at all. Could be a city, a yoga retreat, anything that you've done with your baby (less than 12 months) that was fun and not too stressful!

    Would love to hear your thoughts or recommendations. Thanks!

    yep, singapore was our first trip with our then 9 month year old son within Asia - short plane ride, safe and easy to get around with a child. it's a very child-friendly city and medical care is great here for emergencies.

    Singapore`s really nice, relatively easy and stress-free, about the same prices as here (a bit cheaper even), but really just another city with malls. It`s a good long weekend option though.
    I`m always a big fan of Thailand - it`s pretty cheap, it`s close (2.5 hrs), beautiful, cultural. I went to BKK with my then 8 month old but that was a bit of a nightmare(we`re not a 5 star family either) and vowed only to go to the beach from then on. So I would probaby recommend somewhere like Phuket or Samui for a bit for of a relaxing time (though those places can be as expensive as any).
    I don`t think it`s so easy to travel with an infant for leisure, unless you`re one of those super calm, stress-free people.

    i went to bkk for a weekend away with my aunt and there is no way i'd plan on going again with my kids for some time....reason being: everything i loved doing in bkk is so much easier without kids! massage & shopping being the top two reasons i'd go to bkk again!

    Hua Hin is a beach town a few hours south of BKK that is pretty family friendly and has all budget levels and is not obnoxiously busy. Plus, it is close to some more `nature` type places, as it`s not near any other big towns.

    agree with Carang. BKK is not a great place for children esp those in strollers. We brought our 15 month year old there and spent a lot time in the hotel and in the malls within a 2 block radius of the hotel. We did the aquarium and that's about it.

    Of course, all resort areas are easy for kids like the Sheraton in Hua Hin, Bali, Phuket etc...since everything is contained. I would tend towards the larger chain hotels (Starwood, InterContinental, Shangri-La, Mandarin etc...) since they usually have a kids club and are more equipped to handle various baby needs.
