    help please!!! stolen shoes

ok, as most of you know, i run a playgroup. our centre is VERY small and space is VERY limited, so we have a shoe rack outside for parents/helpers/kids/everyone to put their shoes.

we have been open for 2 years and this morning one of the mums had her shoes stolen! right from outside our centre! we are in a village and there is a security guard booth about 50' from our door. we've asked the security if they saw anything strange, answer, 'no'.

so, i've (1) decided to buy something to hang the shoes INSIDE the school and
    (2) offered to compensate the mother...

is that suitable? (i'm just hoping she's honest with the cost of the shoes!!!)

Did you eventually sent an email or did a phone call to the other mums in case someone mixed the shoes and was planning to bring them back ?

it only happened at 12nn...so no emails out yet... but there are only a maximum of 8 other mums/helpers, so it's not like there are hundreds of shoes available...

anyway, we talked to the mum in question and she said it was not necessary to compensate her for the shoes. we are still going to give her 2 free classes, though.

thanks, i try to run my school as flexibly as i can, but there are times that we have to put our foot down when parents make "suggestions" etc.

today was a weird day all around...
    first, stolen shoes...

THEN only 2 out of 6 kids showed up for their first lesson at a new time....so, we decided that although there were two kids there, we would offer them a differnt time this week PLUS an extra class as compensation for the one who has already paid for the month...

do you think that is fair? i thought so, but i still got a nasty email from the mother....

It sounds reasonable to me but it all depends on how flexible the mum is and the child's schedule. Kids these days need personal diaries for all the lessons they've been enrolled in.
