moving or not?
I've been living in China for 10 years, Hong Kong 1 year (my daughter was born there), now I'm in Dubai.
We're going back to HK soon, our child is 2 years old.
I'm not sure, now, that this is a good idea.
Pollution is what scares me most.
pls tell me, apart from the datas, how do you feel about it and your kids growing up there?

We are glad that this assignment is temporary. You can breathe the "air" here but it can not be a good long-term thing.
Hard to escape the feeling that you are conducting a bizarre medical experiment on the lungs.

It worries me greatly and if I had the choice I would not live in Hong Kong. I often feel ill for no reason and I get bad headaches - I think this is down to pollution. I hate to think what it is doing to my son....

if you really have a choice, then don't move to HK. I don't like raising my child here for many reasons, not only the pollution, but we are here because of my husband's work. I make the best of the situation or else I would be totally miserable. The other option is for your husband to move here and for you to live within commuting distance of HK, eg Taiwan, Singapore, which I know some families do. That creates other problems of separation and extra costs. If you move back to China, you run into other pollution problems - food safety, water and soil pollution as well, depending on where you relocate.

Right, if the choice is HK or PRC definitley HK.
AMCHAM claims that HK is losing expats due to the pollution issue. Mostly heading to Singapore, if I remember correctly.
