I also heard that if you fire your helper then they have to leave the country within ten days but you can offer to allow her to resign and then she can stay in HK for one month. Is this true?

Unless she is unstable, or you have a feeling she is likely to do something vengeful, I wouldn't bother changing your locks.

Thanks LeahH,
Im not sure - she's only worked for me for 2 months. So, was just "covering" all grounds.

Hi,
Sorry, been busy today......the dorm is near our place - tung chung, so i don't know if it's convenient for your helper. No, i do not need to pay for her expense from the time i terminate her, it's just my "goodwill" to make sure she knows a place where to stay after i terminate her. But it turns out she lives in her friend's house, they know A LOT of friends, so i'm sure, they will have a place to stay in for a few days.
Yes, i forgot to mention you have to report to immigration asap too. There is a form, maybe that's what Rani said. Let her sign it too.
I did not bother to change the lock, they won't go to that extend.
Liquorice, not true, as long as they are terminated (they did or you did), they are only allowed for 2 weeks, correct me if i'm wrong.

We did it this morning and it was actually was not that unpleasant, thanks to all your help - we were well, well prepared.
We gave her 1 month, 1K for airticket, 4 days work (for this month) and 2 days VK (was not sure if she qualified, since she worked for us for only 2mths) but, we just wanted to not have to deal with this issue anymore.
We made 3 originals of everything, she was given 1. It was done in less than 2 hours.
Thanks again for all your replies.

that's great Piper! good luck in finding another one.
As what my friend says: If you are not happy with your helper, terminate her and you look for another one that will not stress you out.
