Going unaccompanied to school, any suggestions?

My 2.4 year old daughter will be going to school alone starting next week. Any suggestions to make this easier on her? Could other mums share their experiences please. Thanks.

    Hi geomum

I am not yet at that stage but would be interested to hear responses. Good luck. I am sure she will do fine but there is bound to be an adjustment phase.

i think a lot of it will depend on the cues YOU send her... if you are nervous and worried about it, you will pass that on to her. just talke about it matter of factly and get on with it. perhaps promise a special treat at the end of the week, so that she has something to look forward to if she is a good girl at school?

Is she familiar with where she will be going to school? If not, you could try to take her in for a visit first to familiarise her with the classroom and meet the teacher. That will give you something to talk about, eg you will be going to be in X's class and there is Y toy to play with. You can also show her where she will put her bag and where you will wait for her when school is finished. Good luck!

Also, emphasise the fact that she is going to have so much fun and not on you leaving her. Good Luck J xx

Thanks guys, yes she has been going to the same school since Jan this year and absolutely loves it. I have been trying to tell her she will go alone from next week as she is little grown up now. I have promised her a new princess scooter too if she is a good girl and does not cry. Finger's crossed she should be fine, I will try to be brave too.
