    i even once managed to pay zero to an agent (for rental): basically i saw the place with another agent who didn't have me sign the forms and then went to my old agent that i knew and told him to get the place for me for free. he still got something from the landlord

    we got a place once for 1 week's rent... but that was back around SARS

    Our quarterly government tax is ON TOP of our rent, I did not realise this on signing the lease and it has added quite a lot more to the outgoing. Our building is owned by a commercial organisation, not a private individual. The mgmt fee and car park cost is on top of the rent but I realised that and factored it into my workings from the outset.
