Traveling is so much more fun for us now... we download new games for our toddler on ipod and she keeps busy for hours whether its on the plane or dining in a restaurant.

Don't forget your medications especially antihistamine as this stops your children from becoming agitated on long journeys.

after travelling alone with a new born and a 2 year old for what turned out to be a 36 hour journey....taking my son for a 10 day trip to thailand to get his teeth fixed and taking a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old next month to canada by myself....

i'd have to say that the most important thing to pack is.....

    a sense of humour!

(oh, yes, and don't forget your bag containing wallet, ID, credit cards, atm cards, iphone & photos of the kids on the beach in pattaya!)

Thanks! It really came in handy when we lost sight of our (then toddler) son at Singapore Zoo and someone was kind enough to call us on our HK mobile. He was just around the corner from us in the end but it would have taken so much longer for us to figure out where the lost and found/information counter at the zoo was etc etc..
So now we do that first thing without fail every morning when we're traveling and getting the kids ready for the day.

Our top travel tips anywhere - is to take your child down to the playground to run around before going to the airport, they will be so tired that they will sleep right thru (if short flight) or at least let you have some time to eat while they snooze for a few hours. Some gummy lollies to chew on so that their little ears wont ache while taking off and landing. Dont forget their favorite teddy and blanket - the smell help them relax and fall asleep.
If this does not work - hand them over to the air stewardess to take them walking around the plane again and again...:-))

I've travelled to a) Singapore(trial run) and then to b) Canada by myself with a 2 yr old and 5 yr old. My travel tips:

1)Give them each a travel carry-on luggage that they can cart on their them a sense of independence and they feel grown up and proud to follow. Hv them pack a few of their own things in it. ie snacks, favorite toys, 'quite' toys like games, or activity books, crayons and a pack of tissue in everyone's bag.

2)Pack extra clothes(for you and kids), medicines, thermometer snacks and a magazine for yourself on your own carry on. Those TV screens are great during flight but you'll need s/thing for them to play with or snack on during take off and little baggies of their favorite snacks to hold them over. (nothing too sugary though!)

    3) Prepare a list of each traveller's travel documents and necessary ID cards and type it out all onto ONE page...when it comes to fill out those forms on the airplane/'s all in front you. Carry a pen ..always.

These little things helps make travelling more enjoyable and fun for everyone!!
