My helper is renewing her contract with our family. On top of the 2 week's vacation that she is entitled to at the end of the first 2 years, she has asked for 1 extra week's vacation. Should this 1 extra week be paid or unpaid leave? I know that in her 3rd year, she is entitled to 8 days' leave so if I wantto be generous, she can take 7 days out of 8 even before she has started her 3rd year of service with us. Am I correct?

Also, when does her 3rd year contract start? immediately after the 2nd year expires? or the date she re-enters HK after her 3 week vacation?
