Post-baby hair loss
When my baby turned 3 months, my hair started falling out, as expected. But this time it seems more severe than my first pregnancy. Maybe the weather and water in HK has something to do with it, but in any case, is there anything I can do to combat this? Vitamins, certain foods I should eat, shampoos I can try? Hair's coming off fast and furious and it's scaring me.

Mine came out in concerning amounts as well after the second baby. Don't worry it stops eventually and it's very common to lose MORE hair than you normally would have as your body kicks the shedding into a bit of overdrive.
Pull it into a pony tail and try not to worry about it... stress will only add to the problem.

Sigh me too!!! It took forever to grow out and until now, 2 years after, I still have to live with ugly strands of baby hair along my hair line :)

Oh i feel for you, mine was awful! My hairdresser kept telling me it will grow back it's growing back, and it does, so don't feel too bad. 14 months down the track, I now have a thickish fringe, and it's all new hair believe it or not. Is it worse the second time round??

It was worse the 2nd time around for me - my baby is now 13 months old and I'm still losing a bit of hair. Maybe for me it was partially because my 2 were only 21 months apart so maybe I'm still losing some from the first pregnancy ;) I dunno - but my hair is SO thin it's crazy...

I'm so glad to read that this is normal. My hair grew so fast while I was pregnant, but my baby is now 3 months old and my hair has been falling out for weeks. It's everywhere! Glad to know it's normal and will settle down. I'm taking vitamins again - has anyone found that this helps at all?

I used to do some writing work for a hair specialist (trichologist) briefly. Here are some things I picked up:
1. As you said, it's normal for hair to start falling out three months after pregnancy. This is because the hormones during pregnancy push more hair follicles into the growing stage than normal, leading to a very full head of hair. Once those hormones subside after pregnancy, the hair goes into the falling stage. Maybe more hair is falling becuase more hair follicles were pushed into the growing stage this time around.
2. If your hair is falling three months after pregnancy, all you have to do is wait. However, nutritional deficiency can also cause hair loss so continuing your prenatal vitamin might eliminate the chance of that. Protein-rich food is also good for the hair. The doctor I worked for reccomended cutting out caffeine and alcohol for people suffering from hair loss.
3. You could also try a head massage to stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles. Some cultures use warm oil for the head massage - very relaxing but can be a pain to get the oil out.
