    Baby's First Dental Check

I am wondering when my baby should have his first dental visit. Do you ladies take your LO to a regular dentist? or a pediatric dentist? is there any pediatric dentist in HK? Any recommendation?

I was told by my dentist that when they have their first teeth you should take them to the dentist. My little boy went when he had 4 and we go every few months to get him used to it. They just brush his teeth and let him play with the instruments to get him used to the environment and they polish them if he is in the mood.
We go to American Dental Group, it is a but pricy but I think, worth it, and they have a lady there who is specialised. She is really sweet and patient.

A good trick for keeping the teeth: buy the brown electric children's toothbrush once baby has 8-10 teeth. They looove it and it will tell you when it is done by playing a tune. It says 3+ years o. The box but dentist say that as long as you help them, you can use it from 1 year.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Nielsen. Can you tell me how much does it cost in average for a first time check up at the American Dental Group?

We just did our first check up and The Boy is two and a bit, my husband had an appointment so I thought it would be good to take The Boy in to see his appointment first and then he would know what to expect. We used Tam, Hulac and Partners, they have a play area in the waiting room and children's films available for the tv in the ceiling above the chair. Definitely not cheap either but I think our insurance covers some of it.

I was recommended in the States to start between 2 and 3, and we started basically closer to 3. My oldest is extremely scared (very shy in general) and we see Dr. Denise Giles. My oldest adores her and says she never wants to go elsewhere ... She's not a pediatric dentist, but absolutely great with kids. She's in Central Building on Pedder Street. It will be close to a $1000 (first longer consultation is $750 or so, then sometimes fluoride, etc.), which adds up.
