With my first child I used Lansinoh with no success for six months. With my second I tried again...still didn't do anything for me. Putting breastmilk on them also didn't help. I had the "Lily Pads" gel nipple pads that can be refrigerated and then put in your bra--provided very, very temporary relief but overall didn't help. I put cool cabbage leaves on my breasts--also temporary relief but no long-term cure. Then....I started applying pure, organic coconut oil--just the kind that you can buy at a health food store. Voila! Perfect. Have never had a problem since. I am still breastfeeding my daughter and she just turned 1 year old last weekend and I still apply the oil after bathing and after each feed. So, organic coconut oil is my top suggestion.
“Many women have described their experiences of childbirth as being associated with a
spiritual uplifting, the power of which they have never previously been aware …
To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory.
She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”

I second the use of breastpads help to cushion At 25 months now, I'm still using them(Pigeon-best I find so far, and available here, haven't tried chicco's thou), as well as nipple gel after shower too like thanka2 did with something else
I forgot to add in the last post that airing sore nipples whenever u can helps speed up the recovery

And while you are medicating or working on pain relief, I hope you are consulting an LC to help you figure out why they are sore... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
