Dermatologist for my baby's eczema
Hi all, my daughter is almost 1 yr old and she has eczema. I have only been taking her to her pediatrician (who gave me a mix of steroid + moisturizer cream to help with the outbreak) but I'm a little worried now that she's already almost 1 and it does not seem to get better. Can anyone recommend a specialist (dermatologist?) for young children's eczema? We live in mid-levels but willing to travel.

hi kacoak,
If you have not seen this website before, it's worth checking it out. My almost 1 year old had baby eczema and I really learned a lot from reading this website. http://community.babycenter.com/post..._starter_guide
From my understanding, most specialist (dermatologist give you similar things. unless you want alternative dedicine. Good luck.
Sorry that you are going through this.

Unfortunately I have not found a great private paediatrician for skin problems in HK. I think most if not all are 'jack of all traces and masters of none'. Most prescribe steroids and emoillents. You may get further in the public sector/university teaching hospitals if you happen on a paeds with an interest in skin, I know I haven't. Goodluck!

My son has terrible eczema. It's a daily battle for us to keep it from disrupting his life. I hate it.
Our pedi has given us steroids and we use polytar in the bath. That helps with the itching a lot. We also moisterise with welsan cream.
Have you found anything in your child's diet or environment that might be triggering it?

Thank you all. I have taken her for a blood test to test for allergies, and she's got the usual suspects: eggs, peanuts, oats, cat & dog dander. However, extreme temperature change (changing season) and dryness (airplane cabins) also seem to trigger her condition. After reading those articles, maybe I'll try the "wet wrapping" method sometimes. Often times her skin would get really really dry and no amount of moisturizer seems to help.
I suspected as much in terms of specialist doctors - we'll just have to manage the condition as best we can, I guess. Thanks again.

We went to Dr. Adrian Fung for specialist opinion. He is a dermatologist and sits in East Point Center, CWB. He explained everything to do with eczema, bub's status in particular and how to manage it very thoroughly. Would really reccomend him ... it helped us much more than consulting our paed on eczema related issues.

My son has been suffering from eczema since he was a newborn. Until I ordered Foderma serum and started using it the only thing that would work on his skin would be prescription steroids which I hate using on him as it discolors his skin and who knows what else it might cause in the future. In just three days of using this my sons skin was cleared and feels silky soft. His blisters are gone and his skin remained the same color.
