Cara don't be so hard on yourself, you can't tell everything about a helper during the time of the interview. The way I see it, some people are naturals around children, some people aren't but can pretend/throw themselves into a job (see Thank2 comments) and some just can't be bothered/won't pretend. I have a helper who is hopeless around my little ones, she didn't even really bother to pretend because I think she knows she's a great cook and probably could get away with it. Having said that, I have another helper who is fabulous around the children but hopeless with the cooking, so it kind of works in my household. I'm not sure the utopian helper exists for most of us......just as a super boss, colleague, employee exists in the real world, you know 5% BAD, 90% good, 5% stellar......
