I'm just wondering - are mainlanders not eligible for dependent visas?

Op- just saw your post that says your wife will have her HKID in Jan. If this is so then she will we able to register in Jan at a public hospital in your catchment area and pay the same as every other HKID holder.

nicole, no they are not. they can apply for dependent visas only under certain circumstances... hence, all the local men with mainland wives that have to wait 5+ years to live together....

HI Carang , if you had read previous posts you will have noted that I am from the Uk hence my wife is here already on a dependent visa and also has the right to a Hong Kong ID card.

this thread has become so long that it is now going in circles and is not focusing on the main point.

HI Redestiny, even with ID the rules have changed in 2013 and it would be too late to get a place especially with Chinese new year round the corner.

Are you sure? I have plenty of HKID holding friends who are due early 2013 and have not yet confirmed whether they will be delivering publicly or privately and no one is concerned. In any event, if she has a HKID a public hospital will not turn her away if she shows up in labour.

    HG19,
if you had read my post, you would see i was answering a question for Nicolejoy, not you. If your wife has a HKID, the public hospital will NOT turn her away.
