It would not matter if my helper was in the top 10% of helpers in HK (and how you determine this is so variable), if she drugged my children without my knowledge, I will terminate immediately. The big picture is that she obviously thinks she can make any decision wrt your child's welfare, and these decisions were reckless.

Technically, this is an act of giving a drug to a minor without the guardian's or parent's consent. She should be thankful she is getting away with just a termination.

Look at it this way - a helper can be replaced but the life of your child cannot if something happens to him as a result of administering medicine.

It's absolutely terrible and uncommon. I would terminate her for sure.

striker i only read the first few lines and that was justification enough for me to fire your helper on the spot- no need to read your pros and cons of her overal performance cos that is nothing compared to the safety of your child. I have 2 helpers to help me out, they are there to help me not stress me out more, so i dont waste time over it - if they dont do as told or there are signs of bickering - one or both will get the boot period.

Our helper isn't allowed to give our children medicine. We administer it ourselves. I would have to terminate a helper who gave my child inappropriate medication. Then I would thank the second helper for finding out and then I would fire both of them for not getting along. Then I would take a look at my lifestyle and living situation and try to make things different so in the future I wouldn't have such problems.

It's horrible! Hiding the medicine does not help, she can easily get the fever or cough medicines over the counter.
If you can't get rid of her immediately, do make it very very clear that this is not tolerable, and quickly find a replacement for her.

    Hi
I would terminate her contract. What if you had also given your baby medicine & she was unaware that you had? She could have overdoes your child. Some medicine, even over the counter ones have high toxicity levels for the liver & kidneys of young children . What she did was dangerous. I think it would be difficult to trust her again as what she did was untrustworthy

Please call the Police. You terminate her she may still find another employer. You will give her another chance to do it to another baby and this baby may not be lucky as yours... (over-dose?..)
