Still safe to nurse? Need assurance!

Due to my now 18mths toddler preference for my right breast, I've stopped nursing him on my left breast 9mths ago. Im totally fine with nursing from just the right breast but lately my boy has been biting during his dream nursing and i wanna give my now sore nipple time to heal. Now when I express my left breast, there's still milk but it looks really thick and creamy and a bit yellowish in color. I know it's probably safe to resume nursing from my left breast but I just need to hear from someone to tell me it's ok and safe for baby as silly I may sound, the word "expired milk" kept flashing in my mind!!

my milk was often a little yellowish... breastmilk has "cream", too... not just cow's milk! so, it is likely that it is just that... creamy, full fat milk.

and no, breast milk never expires!

When you are weaning the breast involutes and the milk becomes more colostrum like. So it tends to get thicker and more yellow in colour. If you haven't fed on the left side for a while then it is further along the process then the right breast is (the two breasts and their supplies are independent of each other).

It will not harm you baby to drink the milk and most babies will not mind the difference in taste but occasionally a baby will - it tends to be a bit more salty tasting.

    Best wishes,
