ESF Kindergarten Applications for 2014 Start on 1st October 2013

For children born between January - December 2011, the ESF will be accepting applications for K1 from the 1st to the 31st of October, 2013. This application is for the 2014 intake.

    Admission Criteria

When applying for an ESF International Kindergarten, children should be able to engage with an English medium, inquiry-based curriculum.

Priority is given to the following:

-Children of full-time staff or staff at ESF or ESL who have been employed by the Foundation for over a year.

-Siblings of children who have attended or are currently enrolled in an ESF school, ESF Private Independent School or ESF International Kindergarten.

-Children of former students who have attended an ESF school or ESF Private Independent School, for a minimum of three years or are former ESF students returning from a period overseas.

-Children currently attending an ESF International Kindergarten Playgroup. This does not include children who attend an ESL Language playgroup.

-Other applicants who can benefit from an English-medium education.

    Application Procedures

The commencement month for K1 students is in August each year and applications will be received for K1 in accordance with the list below:

    - Children born between Jan-Dec 2011 should submit applications from 1st-31st October 2013 for the August 2014 K1 intake.

    - Children born between Jan-Dec 2012 should submit applications from 1st-31st October 2014 for the August 2015 intake.

    - Children born between Jan-Dec 2013 should submit applications from 1st-31st October 2015 for the August 2016 intake.

Priority will not be given to applicants, who submit their applications before 1st October and late applications will be added to a waiting list in accordance with the priority status and submitted date of the application.
It is also important to note that applications will be denied if your child is applying prior to their allocated academic year.

Applications outside the October period may be made at any time for K1 and K2. Even though placements are limited, given that there are an increasing number of children applying for placement each year, availability may open up during the academic year. If no spaces are immediately made available, your child’s application will be added to a waitlist in accordance with their priority and date of application.

    Selecting a Kindergarten
You may only apply to one ESF kindergarten. Below are some guidelines to help you choose a suitable school for your child based on your location.

-Families living on Hong Kong island should apply to Hillside Kindergarten.

-Families living in the Clearwater Bay, Tseung Kwan O, Hang Hau and Sai Kung area should apply to Abacus Kindergarten.

-Families living in Ma On Shan, Tai Po and Shatin should apply to to Wu Kai Sha kindergarten.
