Travelling at 32 weeks
Hi all,
Will appreciate from experienced mums - is it safe to travel at 32 weeks? It's a 5 hour- plus international flight plus a couple hours of driving from Perth to Margaret River. This was booked with friends, prior to the pregnancy. I have gotten the all-clear from my doctor but am wondering if there could be any risks, whether those here have heard of any stories of whether air travel triggers early labour etc... Have a history of miscarriages but this pregnancy - touch wood - has been okay so far. Many thanks for any thoughts or tips on this!

If you got all-clear from your doctor... It's the only valuable piece of advice you can get ...

I know. But there was that recent sad case of a women who gave birth on a CX flight and whose baby died - she had the all-clear from her doc too! So been tugged in different directions about this.

I also travelled overseas to Japan when I was 32 weeks, it was completely fine and I also got the all clear from my doctor. You will need to bring a letter from your doctor to show when checking in and/or boarding the plane. Just ask the cabin crew to provide you with more pillows and extra water for comfort on the flight and to avoid dehydration. It was tiring though, walking around at 32 weeks' pregnancy so I didn't enjoy the trip as much as I would have if I was lighter.
Regarding the Perth to Margaret River journey, this is a 3 hour car journey and you can stop for a rest along the way. There is a specialist maternity hospital at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Subiaco, Perth in case of any complications. There are also hospitals in Bunbury and Busselton on the way to Margaret River, if case of emergency. Hopefully you won't need it, but always good to know for peace of mind. Good luck!
