    Physio/Chiropractor for breech baby

Does anyone know a physiotherapist or chiropractor that works with pregnant women to turn babies in breech position? I'm 32 weeks and baby's head is still up. I very much want to avoid a c-section. I've tried acupuncture and moxibustion already. Thanks!

This is a specialized procedure called ECV that has to be done by a qualified gynecologist in a hospital setting as there is a chance you could go into labour. I'm not sure about private hospitals but in the public system they will arrange a specialist free of cost to do it. However, they only do it at a specific point in the pregnancy due to the risk of labour. In the meantime, there are exercises you can do to try to get your baby to turn. There is also a Chinese medicine procedure that some do. (My second child was breech, my private doc wrote a letter to the public hospital recommending an ECV, they arranged one for me but I was in two minds about it. I ended up starting contractions on the day the ECV was scheduled and had an emergency c-sec which in retrospect was happy about as the healing was quicker and less painful than the vaginal birth for my first)

I know about ECV but I've read mix things about its effectiveness and it can't be done until late in pregnancy due to risk of starting labor. I've seen there is something called Webster Technique done by chiropractors that I'd like to try. As mentioned I've already been doing Chinese medicine.

Hi @newbian have you spoken to Liz at a Mother's Touch? Mother's Touch

During the Mini Birth Rehearsals we've done with her, she's recommended the site Spinning Babies
Spinning Babies for turning a breech. She can help with some of the exercises too.

    Good luck! Hope baby cooperates.

As an update I did find a Webster technique trained chiropractor, Belinda Forsyth. She's really helped me with hip and back pain. Unfortunately neither this nor the acupuncture/moxibustion, nor exercises at home, swimming, etc. have worked and I still have a breech baby at 37 weeks so am booked for a c-section at 39 weeks. I tried A Mother's Touch but they weren't able to help as the person who works with breech positions was on vacation.

I have to admit, I suspect the high success rates with these treatments are due to the fact that 95% of babies turn head-down by term, so pretty much any treatment will "work." I wish I had saved the money and effort with all of these treatments and just had massages to relax myself and mentally prepare for a c-section instead.

@newbian thanks for the update. sorry to hear things didn't work out but you tried. relax and don't worry about the money you spent. just enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Get yourself pampered, lunch with the girls and don't forget to sleep. You're on the final stretch! Well done.
