    Insurance for complications giving birth

    Hi,

My wife is a mainlander and is currently 22 weeks pregnant. I didn't know a hell of a lot about giving birth in HK before but I've been furiously reading up since I found out!

Now I understand that most maternity insurance packages have a waiting period and we're already way past that and I'm ok with covering the cost of a regular birth (already booked a private package at St Teresa).

What I'd like to find out is whether there are any options available to me to purchase insurance just for any complications that may arise whilst giving birth? I'm a bit worried that should anything happen, there will be the stress of forking out a ton of cash on top of what happens to my wife and child.

I've been searching for it on the internet and even spoken to an insurance broker but no luck yet.

Anyone have any experience with this?

    Many thanks

Welcome bawble! I haven't heard of a product that gives you instant coverage for complications. All policies have a waiting period of 6-12 months.
