First pregnancy, need a good and affordable doctor
Hi Just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant. Planning to go Public Hospital but would like a private doctor for additional checks. I used to go to Dr. Leung at the Well Women Clinic but their prices have increased so much that I cannot afford to go there anymore. Can anyone recommend a good and affordable doctor that can perform checks and ultrasound to a first time pregnancy?

Hi, I recently saw Eric Lee at week 6 & Dr Joe Chan at week 7. Similar price, but preferred Dr Joe Chan. Consultation fees are between 1200 - 1400, scans 400 - 800. They're both in Central & consultations last about 15 mins (lee) & 30 mins (Chan). I used to see Dr Bonnie Wong at Pacific Care in TST for regular gyno check ups before pregnancy - she gives shorter consultation at cheaper fee (around $550). It was short but to the point and straight forward. Hope this helps. Congratulations & good luck! :-)

Thanks so much @hjk for the reply. I am now 25 weeks. I found that some GP / OB won't see you when you're past a certain number of weeks due to insurance liability so I had to call a few places to find out. Congratulations to you too! Enjoy the pregnancy :)

Yes, after posting, I realised this thread was a while back... :-) 25 weeks sounds like a mid way mark & I hope it is going well for both you and the little one, and hope you found a nice caring doctor. Funnily enough, after writing the reply, I was informed by my current doctor of his delivery fee, which is nearly 40k. I am without insurance so this is a bit out of budget. So now i gotta look for a more affordable doctor.. if you dont mind me askinh, how is your doctor?

@hjk You always have the option of going public hospital route if you want to save costs. I've been making the most out of the public hospital checkups which have been good so far. The waiting times are unpredictable during appointments but I'm not pushed for time so it was fine.
I only went to see one private doc which I found a contact from GeoBaby forum who could see me at 22 weeks then. Her name is Dr. Irene Hon (OB & GYN) and her practice is in Mong Kok. Only went for a checkup as I was experiencing some rib pain. Was charged HK$500 for consultation and she was good for what I needed. She will only see patients up to 24 weeks pregnancy so I asked her to recommend doctors for after 24 weeks which she gave some contacts.
I don't have a regular doc that I see for pregnancy. My original OB doc at Well Women clinic is too expensive for me to go to regularly and since I am going the public hospital route, I am only seeing private docs if needed for additional scans / checks.
