Juice for baby?
Hi!
I have a 9 month old baby. I want give her some fruit juice to start with , but don't know what brands or type to give. She gets constipated with Apple juice and does not like orange juice and had loosies with sweet lime juice.
Any pointers?
Thanks

Hi Rini,
I am gunjan and have a 15 month old daughter ' Malika'.
At 9 months your baby should be eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. I tried Gerber fruit juices and also freshly squeezed orange juice with Malika but she didn't relish them.I tried giving her fruits instead of juices and she loved them.
You can give your baby
1. mashed banana with dates - very healthy and rich in iron
2. peeled orange slices
3. boiled mashed apple puree with baby rice
4. mashed banana with kiwi fruit
5. some melons
if you are breast feeding, you can add some milk to give the fruits a milky texture.
Hope these suggestions work for you.

Hi Rini,
Have u tried pear yet? Our Dr told us to start with Pear and Apple.
Also try carrot and prune.

I started giving my son juice at 4 months. Just a bit a day in between his afternoon and evening feed. I started of with apple, then pear. I found that if he had apple juice too many days in a row, he'd get constipated, so he only has apple now twice a week.
The Gerber web site has a list of their juices and I printed out this list and make the combination juices accordingly.
Invest in a good juicer.

Which juice?
You may want to try him with pear juice as pear's are meant to have a very low level risk of allergy and adverse reactions.
And if you dilute the juice with water it's kinder on the little one's tummy and better for them!
And i think it's probably best to steer clear of orange juice for the moment as it may be too acidic.
happy drinking!

Hi, I was wondering, at what age are you suppose to start giving fruit juices? Would you start the juices in the sippy cup or in a bottle?

Hi Allison,
Our Dr said we could start solids and juices at 4mths. However, we decided to wait till D was a little over 5 mths. I've given him a bit of carrot and apple juice with a spoon.
I don't think he'll take a sippy cup yet cos he doesn't even like the medium or fast flow teats.
Anyway, will definitely give it another go in a week or so.
