    Baby Einstein Videos

A friend lent us the Baby Einstein videos and D was quite fascinated with them. Just wondering which one is the most popular.

Having suffered through one of them, let me be a contrarian and write these videos off as marketing gimicks.

These videos essentially offer hypnotic scenes which will hold the babies attention. Not bad if you want the kid to associate the telly with "entertainment" and "fun".

The production quality is cheap ... the cost is way too much and any parent who feels compelled to buy these videos should examine the long term impact of television additiction before buying.

I am not sure which DVDs my daughter likes the most but what I like the most is Baby Noah. I agree with Shri that too much TV is no good (even it is DVD for babies or educational) I restrict the DVD time to not more than 10 minutes each time and only twice a day (one of the book I read suggested not more than half an hour in total, per day) I never let my daughter watch TV programme (not even cartoons) but only certain DVDs. She is one year old.

My daughter loves the Playhouse Disney channel, available with NOW. She prefers real characters to cartoons. However, you have to subscribe to Disney channel in order to have Playhouse. I've heard NOW TV has lowered their entrance fee, you can subscribe to only one channel instead of a package. If you are using PCCW broadband it's even easier. In fact, many videos on sale at the market can be found on TV (Pearl and World).
