    Smile 4D scans

I've got a 30-week pregnant friend visiting from Japan this Thursday, I'm 32 weeks myself and we were hoping to both go to get 4D scans together. I've booked an appointment for my friend with Dr Wan at the Prenatal Health Centre but they don't have time for both of us that day.

Can anybody suggest any other doctors to try who have the 4D scan facility?

I heard that Dr Milton Leung also does 4D scans.

    Can anyone confirm?

I heard Dr. Clement Ho at Prince's Building also have the 4D scan. You can call directory to get his details. Good Luck!

    4D Ultrasound

Both Dr. Doo and Dr. Leong are experts in the field and lecture in North America at gyn/ob conferences on using 4D Ultrasound in Clinical Practice. You can call the Women's Centre at 2523 3007. My wife and I kept all the pics in the baby's first baby album.

Can I ask a question... can someone explain what is a 4D scan?

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and am interested in knowing what they are and whether they are worth it. Any idea of cost?

    Thanks!

The term 3D means that a life-like picture of your baby can be built from images of the three 'planes' of vision that make up 3D, stored on the computer after the ultrasound, while 4D refers to a moving 3D image.

It costs around $1500, with pics and a VCD.

My 4D Ernest looked like Rani's D's 4D picture. I really can't tell the difference. I now doubt whether my money was well spent.

I decided against having the 4D scan. I'm pregnant for the 2nd time so I'm less into all the 'frills'. I'm happy if I just get a 'normal' from my doctor after each routine ultrasound!

In any case, my doctor said that it has limited diagnostic aid and many people freak out when they see the baby because sometimes the pictures are a little distorted and the baby could look eery. My husband didn't like the idea at all - he's willing to wait for the real thing.

    Each to his own...
