    Renewal of Domestic Helper's contract

    Hi!

I'm 6.5 mths pregnant with a very active 2 year old and my expected due date falls in September 2004. My helper's contract expires in November 2004 and I will renew her contract for another 2 years. I've heard that she has to return to the Philippines on completion of her contract and then come back to Hong Kong to start her renewed contract. It would be great if she didn't have to go back in November because that's when I need her the most!

Does anyone know more about this and what steps I need to take to renew her contract?

    Thanks
    Lucie

    Lucie,

You need to send your helper home every 2 years. Or you can ask immigration for an extension, they are giving 1 year extentions. So you can delay her holiday till next year. If you're going away for the summer, why not let her go home for a couple weeks now or at Xmas?
