though you might not think so, according to all the doctors i've talked to its quite early to intervene in any way. some go for 10 days without a motion!! i know this because we freaked out a month ago when our 2 month old didn't pass stool for 4 days. finally at 5 days our pediatrician showed us how to use a sterile cotton swab immersed in petroleum jelly to stimulate a motion and when that failed gave a tiny enema dose. so i'd say wait a few more days. non-invasive things to do: pull her knees to her tummy repeatedly, put her on her tummy, massage belly in clockwise motion. good luck, don't worry!

If you are breastfeeding drink loads of prune juice - seemed to work for mine when they went for a few days without pooing.

I know exactly how you feel. My daughter went on for 8 days without passing motion. I was breastfeeding at the time. I read somewhere that breastmilk is very efficient food which means that most of it can be fully absorbed by the baby. Just see how the baby feels, if she is not feeling any discomfort then I would wait for a few more days. hope this helps.

Papaya first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helped my daughter (and myself).

If you baby is fully breastfeed it is quite normal for a baby not to poo for up to 10 days - that's perfectly fine. Basically there's just so much "good stuff" in the breastmilk that the baby is just absorbing it all and doesn't need to expel it.
However, if your baby is formula fed (as mine was) you shouldn' t let them go for more than 2 days without passing a motion. The "tricks" I've learned to help my son poo if he's gone longer than 2 days is to put one teaspoon of brown sugar into his formula and he poos within an hour after giving it to him, or give bub some prune juice. Works for me every time!
