Not trying to make anyone feel badly, just really needed to get that off my chest! It just doesn't make much sense why living in HK should make any difference. I agree that if your travelling around with two babies it would definitely pose a challenge but if there is a will there is always a way. Anybody have any more ideas?

I just find it completely unbelievable that the same people who would nag me about drinking cold water and wearing high heels when I was pregnant (very bad for baby) will now say that I shouldn't bother with a car seat because it's very troublesome. What kind of logic is that? Of course it's troublesome, but nothing compared to the consequences of a car accident.

Try the portable car seat available from One Step Ahead in the USA. They do ship internationally but you would need to order through their customer service at One Step Ahead: 1-800-950-5120and not online for all shipments delivered outside of the cont. USA. This 'car seat' attaches to the taxi's seat belt and has a five point harness. It weighs approx. 4lb, and is for children from 22lb to 40lb. It's not your solid heavy car seat but it's perfect for taxi rides and grabbing a lift from a friend that doesn't have car seats. Hope this helps.

saphire, thanks for that. How does the car seat attach to the taxi seat belts? Do you use the middle seat belt as in the photo on the website?

It attaches behind the portable seat. Actually, the seat works better if using the lap belt but the middle seat also works well.
