Has anyone found out that your child has Autistic Features?
Hi there,
I have a child who has Autistic Features. He is 2 years and 8 months old now and will be going into a special school in August. I just like to point out to everyone who has a autistic child is to accept and appreciate god for giving you this child. At first, I was very unhappy and upset but after awhile, I managed to talk to my husband and both share our views on our son and his future. I simply just want him to be happy and understand the basic knowledge of growing, other than that, to be independant.
I hope anyone out there who also have the same problem can share with me. I will be much appreciated if we can exchange our feeling and may even become friends.
I can be contactable on 9251 0252. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
Regards
Jean

It was nice to speak to you on the phone Jean.
Anyone who has a child with autism can be reassured that it is not a mental disorder but a biological disorder that can receive medical treatrment with good chances of improvement / recovery. There is a gorwing body of reserch from the USA to support this finding.
There is an Autism Conference here in HK this August - (www.conference.autismpnhk.org) with top researchers from around the world! Information on biomedical approach and therapy.
Theray (ABA) is available in HK by Autsim Recovery Network (a parents, non-profit making organisation) at www.autismrec.net The therapists are very dedicated.
Another useful HK website with information on the biomedical approach is autism parent network foundation (www.autismpnhk.net)
Dr Trodd, Shui-On Centre, is very experienced in helping autistic children with the biomedical approach, my son has made huge improvements in just a few months.

Yes I'm going to the conference. Its over 2 days, so my husband will go on one day and I will go on the other day (so one of us can look after our son). And I think one day might be all I can handle!

Have anyone tried any of the following places?
Hello there again,
Have anyone tried any of the following places:
1) Wise & Potential Development centre
http://www.potential-develop.com
2) Paymond Lee Speech Therapist/New page
http//www.speechtherapy.com.hk / http//www.newpage.hk
3) Child Growth & Development Center
http//www.arlen.com.hk
Anyway, I've started the speech therapy at Raymond Lee's centre with my son Marvin (which is also called New Page) and cost $700 per session. He explained the minimum effect for a child's improvement is around 3 months so I am trying this out. Keep you up with the news later on if there are improvement on Marvin.
