Should MY Baby Get Flu Vacination?
Dear All
My baby (nearly 10 months old) is extremely allergic to eggs and my doctor has told me that the flu vaccination has protein in it. What should I do? I'm worried the vaccination will cause serious allergy reaction...
thanks for sharing, A

Hi
If your child is allergic to eggs you should not take the vaccination
Being allergic to eggs is basically the only contraindication for the shot.
You risk a major allergic reaction and to contribute installing a severe allergy on a long term basis ( as before 3 years of age if contact is completly avoided you have a chance of allergy calming down maybe disappearing)

Yes, egg allergy is a big no-no for the flu shot. Don't worry about it - my doc laughs whenever I ask about most vaccinations, as people here tend to be rather obsessed with them. Unless you baby is in a high-risk situation (at a day care with 20 other unvaccinated kiddies) then really there shouldn't be any need for it. Better to keep kids well rested and well fed, so their immune systems can cope independently.
