Congrats Cara! Glad you're finally home. I was thinking of you today.
You've got your pareja (spanish for pair)...YIPEE!
How was the recovery after the GA? How long did it take for the GA to wear off? How was QM? Is it a mad rush like the other hospitals?Last edited by rani; 02-11-2007 at 10:33 PM.

the recovery for me has been MUCH faster than when i had my last one with an epidural... that c-section was truly an awful experience ( the epi didn't work properly and i could FEEL it! it was excruciating!)
this time round, they even gave me a little jab of local anesthesia in the hand before inserting the IV!
my memory of the GA goes like this...
anesthetist has the mask over my face giving me oxygen. he said, "there's Dr. Hui, we are going to start the anesthesia now. keep your eyes open so we know when you are asleep, look up at the lights."
i thought, "wow, that was fast acting stuff...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....."
then i remember them calling my name and i could hear them, but had trouble opening my eyes. my first question was "what time is it? is the baby ok?"
i had NO IDEA how much time had passed, if it had been 6 minutes, 6 hours or even 6 days...as it turned out, it was less than 2 hours.
my baby had to go upstairs for the first day as her reactions were a little depressed, but this is to be expected as she was affected by the anesthesia too.
i was moving very slowly the next day and VERY VERY VERY tired, but by day 2 i was feeling MUCH better!
as for the hospital, it wasn't too busy at all! there were a couple of nights that my section was only 1/2 full...
