agree with millerwhisk. there is a misunderstanding that preggies cannot eat soft cheese, it's becasue a lot of soft cheese are not pasteurised. so no mater whether soft/hard /anywhere in between, as long as it's pasteurised, it's safe.

Millerwhisk, you're right, it's hard to know these days which hard or soft cheeses are pasturised.
Recently in Australia, they made it law that ALL cheeses be made in Oz be pasturised, including soft cheeses ( apparently they don't taste as good now) so Aussie cheeses are a safe bet.

Most cheeses are pasturised since they are imported from far. In Europe most of the cheeses sold in supermarkets are pasturised.
You should only be carefull with soft cheeses like blue cheese.
