Loft71, I'm not sure why anyone should deduct the fees for transfer from the maid's salary: surely it sould be the employer's responsibility in any case?

It's the commission for the agency in Indonesia. I suspect the agency in HK will get a cut out of that too.

    Dear 'Loft71'

Thanks for referring Elsa, I contacted her and she said I could get my helper to come from Singapore directly. All in fee of HKD6000 which means no deduction of helper's salary. That is great

Dear Angeilin, I'm glad to hear that you manage to settle it. The agent here told me it costs more to direct hire maid from Indon as the agency & the government body in Indonesia really take a big bite on the maid's salary as they felt that maids working in HK are paid very well compare to average salary scale in Indonesia. Usually the agent fee is HK$21K & deducted HK$3K over 7 months of maid's salary, which means the maid only gets HK$400 pm & $3k paid to agent. It's sad but this is the case. For Philippino maids, the fee is mcuh cheaper as the government body don't impose such mandatory charge to them.
