Child friendly holiday in Asia?
Having settled into Hong Kong life we are looking to take a holiday somewhere in Asia with our 17 month old. Can anyone recommend (or discourage us from) places to stay? my husband likes the idea of luxury (of course!!!) but the most important thing for me is having help and activities for the toddler. Places we are thinking of are Phuket, Kota Kinabalu (as its supposed to be good value) or Koh Samui; but we don't know any good hotels/villas. All ideas welcome. Thanks

I would highly recommend Shangrila Rasa Ria or Tanjung Aru at Kota Kinabalu. Easy to get to (direct flights from HK via DragonAir), food is excellent. Service is superb. Lots of beach area and pool lounge area to get lazy and even sleep with the baby.

Sounds good, I presume they provide babysitting - at a reasonable price? Do you know if they have a playroom?

I would recommend Club Med Bali. We just came back from a holiday with our 2 sons (ages7 and 2) and they had a blast! They have an amazing kids club as well as petit club. They took care of the kids' meals, naps, everything. There's also plenty to do for the adults. We would definitely go again!!

Shangri-la Rasa Ria has babysitting service. We were just there last month and our 1 year old had a blast. Plenty of kids there, also. But the play room is for older kids, although not sure of the age. We played in the kiddie pool and water slide, bobbed in the ocean, played on the pirate ship and the zip line and the sand box, chased birds. etc....
And they have an orangutan rehab facility on the premises.
