What exactly do you need to get a passport in Hong Kong. I would like ,y mother-in-law to visit us, but how to go about getting a passport? She has never had one before. What office or department do you need to go to? What documentation do you need? She was born in China and came to Hong kong as a teenager, of course this was decades ago. Would you need a birth certificate, or just your HK ID card?

The Frequently Asked Questions section of the Immigration Department web site at http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/faq_hktd.htm should be able to answer your questions.
