Eye-Exams
I'm reading an article on Parents magazine (US edition) that says kids should be screened 3 X in the 1st year, then at 3 & 5 then every two years from ages 5-18.
My son is 4 1/2 now, and have never had an eye exam (wasn't aware he needed it)! None of the doctors we went to pediatricians or otherwise mentioned anything about eye exams for my son. Has anyone had their kids eyes examined by the pediatricians or eye doctors here in HK? Any comments appreciated.

We took our son to the HKOA (HK Opthalmic Associates) for a check up - they have a practice in Central and also in Kowloon. The website is: www.eyehealth.com.hk
They seemed very thorough and Dr Charmaine Hon was very good with an 18 month old - kept him giggling all the time!!
Hope this helps!

We checked our 3 years old daughter last month.
As hubby abd I both wear glasses, we were planning to do it earlier... but got delayed with the expatriation process.
We were happy to control... as we learnt our daughter will need glasses too in a relativley near future.

Just took my 3 year old dd to do an eye assessment, and it was a great experience for her. I highly recommend Dr. Christopher Yu at the Premier Medical Center. Let me know if you need his info.

Our pediatrician in the US always did an eye exam. Although "exam" makes it sound like some sort of formal, cover your eye and read a chart thing. She checked the pupils, the eye tracking, etc.... Just part of the regular well-baby check-up.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess it's definitely time to make an appointment with an optometrist then.
MeowMeow would appreciate it if you could provide the info on your daughter's doctor. Also, if you don't mind my asking how long does the exam take approximately and how much is the cost.
Thanks.
