moving to hong kong with Baby
Hi
My Baby, husband and me are moving to Hong Kong from London in January.
Everything is very last minute, so I won't have time to check out Hong Kong before actually moving there with Baby and all.
So here a few questions.
Do they sell the AVENT Bottle System in Hong Kong?
Boots Pharmacy here in the UK do this great homeopathic teething powder (lifesaver), do they have something like that in Hong Kong, or should I bring a boatload?
I would like to expose my baby to Mandarin, is that possible. I know the official language is Cantonese.
What languages do they speak in kindergarten and play groups besides english. What do you have your Maid/Nanny speak to the baby? Is Mandarin an options there?
Thanks for your help.
Much appreciated.

You can get AVENT products here.
Bring the the homeopathic teething stuff with you.
You can choose english, canto, or mandarin kindergartens.
There are also a wide variety of playgroups around, of course it will help if you speak that particular language.
Most maids here are Phillipino, and will speak english to your child.
You can hire a local nanny, who may be able to speak Mandarin, english or Cantonese.
We have a part time babysitter, who speaks all three, but she is way too expensive for us to have fulltime.
Basically you will be able to expose your child to whichever language you choose, you just have to find the right people.
Good luck with the move.

Your baby will hear Cantonese, because it is everywhere.
You'll have to arrange for the Mandarin, but there are playgroups, kindergartens, etc... with as much or as little Mandarin as you want. You will also find playgroups in several other languages as well as various international schools that offer other (usually European) languages.
There are also Indonesian maids here, if you are looking for further language options.

Thanks Matty and Sleuth.
You confirmed that pretty much anything is possible.
