    Post A million questions...

I think I might be pregnant - I've taken two home preg tests which both had a faint positive, and I just had a blood test done today (I won't get the results until tomorrow). If I am, I'm only about 4 weeks... but I figure it's already time to start thinking about doctors/hospitals/etc!!

My doc suggested Dr Derek Lo - although I know he also specialises in fertility etc - does that make him busier than other doctors? And will that mean that the waiting times are longer and all that? I've heard a lot of talk about other doctors (Dawkins, Fergurson, etc... I've been lurking ;))

I'm leaning more towards public hospital, I think... but I live in North Point. Does that mean that I won't be able to go to Queen Mary? What public hospitals are good for the Eastern district?

Oh - and my due date would be October, so someone needs to start an October 08 due date club!! There isn't one there yet!! ;)

All these questions - and I'm not even "confirmed" pregnant yet!! ;)

The Chai Wan Pamela Youde Hospital is closer to you and is also very good. A friend had all 3 kids there. Dr Lo is my Dr, I only see him once a year for annual check-ups and his clinic isn't busy. However, he only takes on a few pregnant patients a month. Best to call his nurse and check.

Will open the Oct Due Date Group shortly.

    Congratulations!

you can do a 50-50 gov't and private.
as rani said, you'd go to pamela youde.

    congratulations!!!

PS> a blood test isn't really necessary, two positive urine tests (unless you are undergoing fertility treatments) means you ARE pregnant. fake negatives-possible. fake positives-extremely unlikely.

If you end up deciding to go public, the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) in Chai Wan is very good. Had my first one at the Adventist and spent a ton (over 100K; had my second one at PYNEH and spent only HK$350! Care is quite good. Very good breastfeeding support from the staff. I got calls from them every week for a month after I gave birth, just to check on how we (me and baby) were doing and if we had questions. I didn't get that from the Adventist. The only thing to bear in mind is not to expect 5-star treatment/facilities as you would get from a private hospital. Good luck (and congratulations)!

Well - my blood test was positive too, so I guess I'm "officially" pregnant!!

I don't notice anything really different so far... but it's "early days". Nothing different is good - at least I'm not sick or unbearably uncomfortable or something!!

I'm sure I'll have more questions as the time progresses... I think this week or next I'm going to try to check out some hospitals (did anyone else do that? Go visit the hospitals before hand?) and in a few weeks, I'll make an ob-gyn appt...

One step at a time!! This is our first, so there's LOTS to learn!!

    Hi,
A faint positive is a positive! False positives are very rare, so congratulations!
